Emilie Ysebaert et Maïté Dubois
We are Emilie Ysebaert and Maïté Dubois, two translators specialising in subtitling who, spurred on by our shared passion for audiovisuals and languages, decided to found the independent collective What’SUB. After gaining experience here and there (BSFF, Vlexhan Distributions, VSI, etc.), we began offering our subtitling and adaptation services to film schools, festivals, production companies and independent filmmakers as soon as we graduated from the Institut Libre Marie Haps.
Our basic profile is not very scientific, but we're curious about everything, so we started working with the Festival du Film Scientifique de Bruxelles by chance in 2016. Since then, we've worked with the new Cercle des Sciences team in charge of organising this flagship event every year. This is the 9th edition of the FFSB that we have covered, and each one has provided us with a wealth of fascinating information. This invaluable annual collaboration has enabled us to specialise a little more in a variety of fields with which we were previously unfamiliar. What an opportunity to learn while working! And what a pleasure !

Géraldine Tran has a keen interest in science, research and technology, as well as a passion for film and audiovisual media. Her mission is to make science as accessible as possible, and thereby to build bridges between worlds that are still too compartmentalised or hermetic...
As far as she's concerned, a taste for science is something you can learn to do, and there's no right or wrong way to go about it!
